On Tuesday the year 5&6 extension group had their 3rd Paideia Seminar. A Paideia Seminar is when we all come together and discuss a statement that is given to us by our teachers. Our statement for the paideia seminar was: Is being civilised a good thing!
I think being civilised is a bad and good thing and it’s like somewhere in the middle. Being civilised can be like a bad thing to some people because you can lose your identity and your ancestors ways. For example back in the days in like the islands they used to use wood to heat their food. Nowadays people use stoves and other technology. The good thing is that we need a change in our lives. We need forks and knives instead of using your hands which can spread germs and other things.
During the Paideia Seminar I think I did a little less talking then I did in the 2nd Paideia Seminar. I did my best and I did tried to encourage others to speak but other people spoke over those ones who needed to speak. I think the people who did less talking last time has improved Paikea provided good information about our group. I think it was really hard linking to each others idea's for me and challenging other people. I think that I should've talked a little bit more about the statement because I hardly talked about Is being civilised such a good thing. I also thought that I should've just said what I felt inside of me about the statement and our planet.
I was too scared to say what I really felt about being civilised. Next time I think I should ask people if they can clarify what they're talking about because I think that I talked less last time is because I did not get some of the things other people were talking about. The other thing I would like to do is share my information I had already had because during the seminar I made up what I was saying instead of using the information that I had already. This is my reflection about our 3rd Paideia Seminar!
