Task Description: This is my Dear Diary! This is kind of the same as my previous task, instead it shows how technology has changed. I had to read 3 texts in order for me to understand this activity. I had to write a diary about my trip on the plane to Samoa and a diary for Afu about his trip on the waka! ( PS: If you don't understand this please look a my previous blog-post). Travel Past vs Present!
Walt: think critically about what we read.
Task Description: For this task we are learning about how people have traveled changed through time. In order for me to understand this activity I had to read a text about sailing back in the days and try to make connections through it. In this activity it show's how me and Afu have the differences on traveling to a place. Example: I would use the plane and Afu would use like a waka to go to wherever he is voyaging to. I had to write about write about what kind vessel will I use for me and my family, How long will my journey will take, and what would I do during the trip. I had to write this down for each me and Afu on how it's going to be like. I think I learned lot's by reading just that reading but I will of course learn more from the others. Overall I think this was a great activity that I had done. Enjoy!

Ice-cream!
Have you ever eaten homemade ice cream before? Well this is our side of the story on how me made homemade ice-cream at school. We started off by writing down the ingredients and the equipment we needed to make our homemade ice-cream. Some of the ingredients included sugar, Milk, Ice Cubes and Biscuits. As we read and wrote down the things we needed to make our homemade ice-cream we felt so excited about how it is going to end up like! The whole of Room 7 participated into making our Ice-cream. After we gathered up our ingredients we started to shake the ice-cream inside two ziplock bag, It was hard work! After that Mrs Stickland said whoever is finished sit down and get ready for your biscuits. I made my ice-cream by making it look like a ice-cream sandwich. Then for the final step we opened our mouths CRUNCH!!! It was a no for me sorry! I think we messed up and somehow got the salt inside the ice-cream! But at least it was a great day.

Task Description: Today the Room 7 literacy got to write a story of there own on how they survived in a island. But as part of this term's topic focus (technology) in our writing we had to include the kinds of technology we used to make homes or even eat food. We also had to include good vocab in our writing so it could stand out! We then buddy checked our writing with another in order to make our writing more sense. Maths Problem Solving!
Walt: understand fractions.
Task Description: This is a new maths problem from week one! This is overdue work but I will still be explaining how I created this. To start off we always read the problem on the side. Sometimes the problems that we have relates to the things that our teacher (Mr Goodwin) talks about. So we get the knowledge from when we have mat time with our teacher. Then I write down on my maths book how I solved it - How I got the answer. So I take a photo and place it on my presentation. After I re-write how I solved again but in letters. Overall I got the hang of it and was pretty "easy"!

Maori Fishing Techniques!

Task Description: This has been an overdue presentation! As part of our big theme "Now that's thinking"! We have been learning about Maori fishing techniques. In this presentation it talks about all kinds of things the Maori used back in the day. I had to read lot's of readings in order to create this presentation. I learnt heaps! Such as the Taruke that was used to catch mostly cray fish! I hope you enjoy this presentation and that you learn lots about there extreme fishing techniques!

Task Description: Welcome to my first presentation for Term 2! At the moment we have been learning about fishing technology. I've created an presentation which has examples of fishing lures and what fishing lures are. Now That's Thinking!
Walt: Use exciting language!
Writing:
Stepping into the hall I heard bright music, instead the music I heard was about idea’s and thinking! Then I started to look around. There I see Mr Burt using like 3 or 4 netbooks. Wow! From there I sat down still amazed by all the chromebooks Mr Burt had and from there I knew that it is going to be an exciting assembly!
As I was sitting down I see Mr Burt standing in front of our new and extraordinary theme! Yes and it was called Now that's thinking! I started to think about what are the other teams doing that goes with our new topic? We started off with a CRAZY story about Pt England and how they developed different kinds of netbooks. Teams 1-3 were all focusing on the same creative topic with kites, each team had their own movie to represent why there making interesting kites. Well Team 5’s topic was a Bob the builder theme. They were looking at fixing things around there area as we saw from there funny act!
Finally Team 4 my fabulous team are focusing on What kinds of technology the maori used before Pakeha arrived in New Zealand? It kinds of sounds boring to some people but it actually sounds cool and interesting to me! Our movie was kind of like a discussion that our teachers had and came up with hilarious idea’s. They talked about technology in the past like how one of their old phones could not even text! Which was really boring! But they finally came up with one idea after their creative discussion.
As part of Team 4’s topic I am hoping that we actually get to create the things that the maori used as technolgy. I have learnt only a little about the waka’s but I would really love to learn more. I also hope I get to learn about what the other teams are doing, especially the kites!
Overall I think that it is going to be a FANTASTIC term! Thinking about the new term topic makes me think more creatively into things! I also think that team 4 are going to have so much fun learning about What kinds of technology the maori used before Pakeha arrived in New Zealand? I also can’t wait to see Teams 1 - 3’s amazing kite and the new things Team 5 will be doing to their block, I can’t wait for this extraordinary term.
Task Description: Finally the holidays have ended and we have started off with an fresh start. This terms topic for Pt England school is "Now thats Thinking". Here is my writing I have done. I structured it by talking about every bit well most of the bits that happened. Well team 4 is learning about What kinds of technology did the Maori use before pakeha arrived in New Zealand.
