Explanation Writing ~ Where would you put your brand new TV… The Lounge or Bedroom?

WALT: We are learning to write using all parts of the 'Explanation Model' TIIC and SEE
What would you choose?

Where would you put your brand new TV… The Lounge or Bedroom?
Ahhhhh….Nothing is better than just chilling out and watching some good television shows. Of course the lounge is the best place to put your TV! Some people would like it better watching TV in their bedroom but I’d prefer to watch it in the lounge. This is something that many people go on and on about. That’s why I’m going to be telling you different reasons why it’s better to put your TV in the lounge.

Placing your TV in the lounge is the best way to get together as a family and watch some great movies together. I find this very good because families all get a chance to sit together and have some family time. This is way better than being all squashed up in one room or even watching a movie all by yourself. Besides I’d rather watch a scary movie with my siblings or parents than getting a heart attack in my own room by myself!

In every movie we watch there always has to be delicious snacks/food to make the time more enjoyable. I mean, I can’t even survive a movie without having at least something to eat. Eating can sometimes be a huge mess during a movie and everything just goes wild. I think that it’s better to put your TV in the lounge because you can have great snacks and not worry about cleaning much hence you’re in a open area. It’s much better than cleaning your own bed full of food which is what everyone dreads!

Some people think that because your TV is in the lounge your won’t be as comfortable there than on a bed. Well, HELLO we have couch’s for a reason! What I’m trying to say is that we can also turn our couch’s into comfortable beds and make it just as good as your own bed. Don’t worry about the everyone fitting because it is a big space for the fam to enjoy.

Anyways, Those are my three reasons about why it’s better to place a TV in the lounge rather than your bedroom. Family time, lot’s of snacks/foods and comfortable space are what I’m talking about in a movie in the lounge. What would you choose?
---------------------------------------------
Task Description: For this weeks Literacy (writing) task we are focusing on parts of the 'Explanation Model'. As you you probably already know those are T.I.I.C and S.E.E. These help us know what were going to be writing and also it can help it make more sense. The writing is called Lounge or Bedroom. Mrs Tele'a has brought a brand new TV and she doesn't know whether to place it in her Lounge or Bedroom. It is our job to help explain to her which place would be the best fit following with three different reasons. I chose the Lounge followed by three reasons. This is my finishing work.

Reviewing my writing test ~ What I did well/What needs improving?

WALT: We are reviewing what we wrote in our writing test last week - how well did we do?

What do I think about my writing test?
-----------
After reading my writing tests I didn't really know whether I did well or not but, I definitely know about the things I need to improve at. One of the main things I forgot to fix in my test is the little things. By this I am meaning right punctuation, are the sentences correct, does the paragraph make sense etc. Another thing I thought I needed improving in was using the right type of language or words that fit with the texts (if you know what I mean). Besides all that I think the only thing was explaining one main idea in each paragraph rather than going all over the place.

Overall: Did it include S.E.E in the texts? Yes but it was probably in different order
Did it include the T.I.I.C format? Yes it had a tittle, introduction, three paragraphs and conclusion.

Well, that's about all the things I saw in my writing test. I will use these corrections and apply to my next writing test coming up!
-----------
Task Description: Today for this writing task we were told to give a little review based on our thoughts towards the recent writing test we took. The main questions we had to look at was what did we do well in?, What needed improving?, Did it include S.E.E? and Did it include the T.I.I.C format? After reviewing the test we used these questions to create a short summary about how what we did which is based above this task description. This is my finished work.

What does it mean to be a good role model?

What does it mean to be a good role model?

This is a picture of Martin Luther King Jr whom I think was a great role model back in his days.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone always wants to have a positive impact on younger generations through speech and actions. We like to call these people role models. Role models can be anyone like a Mother to her daughter or a Father to his sons. But, what does it mean to be a good one? Well, today I am going to be listing down three different reasons for what it means to be a good role model.

~ Confidence ~

When we're looking at the word role model a whole lot of things come to mind. One of these things is confidence. This word is the main thing that people look at when it comes to a role model. Confidence is a good way of embracing yourself and others in a good way. People want to be looking up to someone who is positive in everything and everyone, trustworthy and gives everything a try no matter what. No one wants to see the opposite of that which is someone down, shy or likes to stay back behind someone's shadow. Therefore confidence is an excellent way to identify a role model.

~ Respect ~

Respect is what some people expect of a good role model, and it’s true! Being respectful is a really important part of a role model. When you do this act you are clearly showing people that you can be polite or courteous. You show respect to others by listening and paying attention to what they are saying and not talking over there voices and making eye contact with someone else. Another way you could be respectful is by looking after vulnerable things that are for others and not putting your hands all over it and playing with it. These things are really simple and easy to get so always remember to show/be respectful.

~ Kindness ~

Being kind is just one of the most simple things you can do as a role model. Showing kindness through speech and actions can lead to many great things. You want to show people that you do care for them and that you are nice and friendly. Kindness as a role model doesn’t mean saying bad things to a person or bringing them down which is not very nice. It’s better to be uplifting and delightful to others. This is why I think kindness is a good way to showcase a good role model.

These are just a three easy but simple meanings of a good role model. Anyone can be a good role model. Even if you think you can’t reach the level of a role model pay attention to the three main points I have listed Confidence, Respect and Kindness and you will see a huge improvement in yourself and others. Overall these are what I think creates a special meaning of a good role model and I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Task Description: This is my first writing task for 2019. I'm in Room 3 Mrs Tele'a's literacy class, I'm in a literacy class called Mewburn and it's so far so good! For this weeks writing task we were focusing on explanation writing. Explanation is a type of writing form where we explain about something like a question. Our topic was about good role models. The question was what does it mean to be a Good Role Model? We had to write in the format of T.I.I.C which is Title, Introduction, Information and Conclusion. This is what I have written. Enjoy!

Benefits Of Exercise Song

WALT: Use technical vocabulary in our writing

Task Description: Last week Room 1 Literacy had to write a song about about the benefits of physical activity. We basically had to pick a song or one we liked and change then change the lyrics. The song was based on physical activity because this term we are focusing on the Benefits of physical activity. I have not finished my piece of writing but this is what I have done! Enjoy.

Original Song: All About That Bass

Because you know I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass
'Bout that bass... bass... bass... bass

Yeah, it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two
But I can shake it, shake it, like I'm supposed to do
'Cause I got that boom boom that all the boys chase
And all the right junk in all the right places.

Remake My Song: All about my brain and my weight!

Because you know I'm all about the brain and my weight, No Trouble I’m all about the brain and my weight No Trouble I’m all about the brain and my weight No Trouble I’m all about the brain and my weight… Yeah it’s pretty clear that you gotta exercise you want to live longer and have a healthy life. Cause you got to move more to get your heart pumping to fight off diseases and so get up and get grooving.

#MyGoals

Walt: Write measurable goals to help us achieve more
Task Description: For this task Room 1 Literacy were instructed to write down our Goals towards our work. Before we did that we talked about the different stages that there are when it comes to learning. Hot Camp - Workers who try hard every day and get there work done.
Warm Camp - Kids who try very hard sometimes but then become slack.
Cold Camp - Kids who don't really listen and are late on there work.
Those were the three stages we talked about. We then had to think about which camp that we belong to right now (I was in the warm camp) and take that information and put it into our goals, and this is what I have made.

Task Description: Today Room 7 is working on a big project! We are writing a story for the younger ones in our school. Since our theme for this Term is space we had to write the story based on someone going to space. In order for the little ones to understand we had to try and use words that kids can understand. We are making 5 picture books from each group. We have to go to each others blog and read each others piece of writing. After we've chosen the story there will be the writers, the illustrators and the designers! Then that will be the end of our project!
