Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey W2 D10 A1/2

C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\School Diary image.jpgDay 10 – School Days
After meeting with the local family yesterday you are inspired to learn more about how people live in different countries. You and your family decide to go out and visit a local market. When you’re there you meet a student who tells you all about what it’s like to go to school in their country. The student also gives you a page from their diary that shows you what a typical school day is like for them.

Here is an example of a school diary for a student from Germany.

Activity 1
Think about your school and what you typically do in a day. Compare it with the diary from the German student. What is similar? What is different? In your blog, tell us:

  1. Whether you would rather go to school in New Zealand or in Germany? - I would rather stick with having school as a kiwi!
2. Why you feel that way? - I feel that way because I love New Zealand it's my home land, and as I see
on the Germany school time table it all start's off with maths. In my block around 8 to 9 we start off by
relaxing our minds by reading a book.
Me reading a book!
Activity 2
Think about your favorite subject at school. In your blog tell us:
  1. The name of your favorite subject - Reading
  2. Why it is your favorite subject - Reading is my favorite subject at school because as I read stories I kind of make up a message to the story just like I did to the story Matilda. Another reason why I love reading it because it helps me relax, think and improve my stories.

Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey W2 D8 A1

Day 8 – Sunshine and Swimming Togs
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\sunshine picture.jpgGood morning! It is Day #8 of your journey and, according to the local weather station, today is going to be cloudy and wet. Back home in New Zealand it is sunny and 28 degrees Celsius today.  It is a perfect summer day! Think about what you like to do in the summer time and complete one or more of these activities.
Activity 1
What are your favourite things to do in the summer time? For this activity you have two different options: (1) You can take a picture of yourself doing one of your favourite summer time activities and upload it to your blog along with a description of what you’re doing or (2) you can write a paragraph that tells us about what you love doing in the summer on your blog. It is completely up to you!

Description: Here is a photo of me doing one of my favorite things in the holidays. Which is reading books and chilling at the same time. I also like doing more too in the holidays. Like Helping my mum to do work. Help make food for the family and playing outside. Also one more blogging using this amazing site.

Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey W1 D5 A1/2

Day 5 – Boarding the Plane
It’s the big day! You’re about to hop on an airplane and travel to a new country. Curious Kiwi will keep you company on the journey. Unfortunately, Curious Kiwi forgot his book and he is worried that he’ll get bored on the long flight without anything to read. He asks you for some help…

Activity 1

Think about all of the books that you have read this year and recommend one for Curious Kiwi to read. On your blog list the title and author of the book and then provide a short description of it. What is the book about?
Image result for the wonderful wizard of ozMy book of choice The wonderful wizard of oz:
Out of all the books I've read I recommend Curious Kiwi to read which some of you already know The wonderful wizard of oz. The wonderful wizard of oz is about a young girl name Dorothy who some how ended up in the magical land of oz because of a terrifying cyclone. But can a wizard help her get back home. The author of this book is L. Frank Baum. You can also listen to this book in audio on youtube. Here is a link to the audio LINK. You can listen to every single chapter of The wonderful wizard of oz.

Activity 2
Read the following three reviews of books that are really popular right now in Canada. If you had to choose one for Curious Kiwi to read on the plane, which one would you choose? Post the name of the book that you would chose on your blog. Below the title explain why you would choose that book.

Book 1: Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) by Suzanne Collins
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Catching Fire book cover image.jpgAgainst all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and her longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create. Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.
C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\Matilda book cover.jpgBook 2: Matilda by Roald Dahl
Matilda is a sweet, exceptional young girl, but her parents think she's just a nuisance. She expects school to be different but there she has to face Miss Trunchbull, a kid-hating terror of a headmistress. When Matilda is attacked by the Trunchbull she suddenly discovers she has a remarkable power with which to fight back. It'll take a superhuman genius to give Miss Trunchbull what she deserves and Matilda may be just the one to do it!
The Book that I chose was Book 2: Matilda by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl is one of my favorite authors. I chose this book because it kind of has a message to it, and that you can learn something about it. I think this message is like no matter what you do and how people treat you keep working hard. But the funny thing is I already watched the movie but I have not read the book. I recommend Curious Kiwi to read this book on the flight

C:\Users\rwil313\Desktop\DoaWK image.jpgBook 3: Diary of a Wimpy Kid – The Ugly Truth Greg Heffley has always been in a hurry to grow up. But is getting older really all it’s cracked up to be? Greg suddenly finds himself dealing with the pressures of boy-girl parties, increased responsibilities, and even the awkward changes that come with getting older—all without his best friend, Rowley, at his side. Can Greg make it through on his own? Or will he have to face the “ugly truth.”

Amazing book The wonderful wizard of oz!

When it was the end of term my teacher gave me 5 books that he said I have to read in the holiday. He also said that I have to post each book I have read on my blog. So today I have finally finished one of my favorite books called The wonderful wizard of oz! This story was really cool that I even watched the movie they were both amazing.
