Holiday Blogging - Summer Learning Journey Bonus Activity

Bonus Activity

Take a picture of yourself standing beside a popular place in your community. It can be anywhere that’s pretty popular in your area (e.g. a store, a restaurant, a marae, etc). On your blog please tell us about the landmark. What is the name of it? Where is it? Who goes to it?

Unfortunately I could not find a photo of me at a popular place in the community. But since that was a bummer I will still just give a photo of the place that is really popular in my community which is Mt Wellington.

Photo:

What is the name of it: Mt Wellington
Where is it located: Mt Wellington is located in the center of the suburbs of Stonefields, Tamaki, Panmure, Penrose, and Ellerslie, and by the Tamaki River.
Who goes there: My family only really goes there for fun and for some exercise.

  1. Hi Amelia,

It is wonderful to see that you were able to come up with an alternative for the 'Landmark photo' activity. You have definitely chosen a very popular spot in Auckland and one that both Aronui and I love to visit! When you and your family go to Mt Wellington do you try and run up the very top? I try to do that sometimes but it's pretty hard work.

A few years ago I had a friend who used to go running a lot so she and I would run from our office in Epsom to the top of Mt Eden and back. She has since moved to Chile and I really miss my running buddy. It was so much easier to go up the hill with someone there beside me, encouraging me. Do you find that it's easier to go things like that with someone to help you and encourage you?

Great work on this blog, Amelia. I love your creative solution!

    Best,
    Rachel :)
