Week 3: Up, Up and Away
Activity 1: Togs or Trackies
The best time to visit New Zealand!

New Zealand is a amazing place to visit. My favorite thing about it is that it’s a free country where everyone is happy and satisfied. If you are thinking about having a little trip to New Zealand that’s great! I recommend that you come in the middle of winter and spring. I chose this period of the season because it’s not too hot and no too cold I like to call this the goldilocks season. It’s also a good time to come to New Zealand because the hotel’s can get a little cheaper and even the tourist attraction!
Speaking of tourists attractions here are three places you should visit while in New Zealand!
One of my all time favourite tourist attraction is the soaring Sky Tower! This towering attraction is New Zealand’s tallest tower. It is located in Auckland city at the corner of Victoria and Federal streets. It is one of the tallest skyscrapers in the world without any kind of support with a whopping height at 328 meters. This makes it the highest tower in the southern hemisphere. While your at it you should do some bungy jumping where you jump from the top of the sky tower! It’s really cool!
If you're looking for a place to relax head over to the Mission Bay Beach! This beach is one of our go-to beaches for everyone. If you got kids don’t worry! There is a park right next to the beach where they can have fun and enjoy. Adding on there is a fountain where you can actually swim in if your not willing to swim in the sea. The best thing about Mission Bay is that you can get a beautiful view of the Rangitoto volcano which is pretty cool.
The last place that you should definitely visit in New Zealand is the Michael Joseph Savage Memorial. (This is one of many tourists attractions!) You’re probably wondering who in the world is Michael Joseph Savage? Michael Savage was a former prime minister of NZ from 1935 to 1940. The funny thing was he was not even born in New Zealand but he was born in Australia. Anyways I think you should visit the memorial because it’s gardens are pleasing and there is a wishing well. It’s amazing!

Activity 2: You are my Sunshine
Keeping our skin safe!
When it hits summer everyone is outside having a fun time and playing games. Everyone is basically having a huge blast. Unfortunately a lot of people have had cases of skin cancer due to the lack of care to the skin. Here on the top is a little reminder of what we should be doing before we hit the road. I hope you read and remember these things when you want to got to the beach or anywhere fun and relaxing!

Activity 3: Burning up…
Bar Graphs
There are many scorching hot places in the world. Some of these temperatures can go really high! This is a Bar Graph I have drawn out about some very hot places in our world. It was really hard trying to get the lines all precise but I ended up doing a neat job. In the bar graph I have ranked the places from lowest to highest depending on there numbers. This is my final result!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Question of the day: Did you know that 2018 was estimated the hottest year in the world? Crazy Right!!?
Task Description: Today I have moved onto the third week of Summer Learning Journey. This week I will be learning about the high skies since no one really talks about it. To start week three off the first task was all about the tourists. What we had to do is tell when is the best time to come and travel to New Zealand. We also had to include three places that we think they should visit during their time here. The second task was about keeping our skin safe from the sun. I was instructed to write five ways that we can do to stay safe in the sun. Finally for the last task I was given a set of numbers to put all into a graph. I decided to go with a bar graph since it was easy to do and read. I ranked the set of numbers that I got from the lowest to highest. This was all the things that I have learnt about so far. I hope that you learnt something from it or you enjoyed it. Thanks for viewing this post and remember to stay tune for more!
Hi Amelia,
ReplyDeleteFantastic work on completing these activities, It must've been so much work. Your work about Burning Up, Bar Graphs was stunning. Your description as well was awesome, Sorching hot places sound so hot almost like it's over heating the whole place. If you are so brave, Would you ever visit these places? Overall fantastic work on your graph. Hope to see more from you very soon, keep it up.
Your's Sincerely,
Hinerangi
Hey Amelia
ReplyDeleteWow, your post for activity one is like reading a travel brochure. You have convinced me that I need to visit those three places. Have you ever done the bungee jump off the sky tower (or off anything for that matter)? The idea of jumping off something terrifies me!
Great DLO on being sun smart. In particular I like your tip to stay in the shade and to wear sunblock. These are tips that are both super important but are often easily forgotten. I can think of one more important tip to add to your list. It is to make sure you drink lots of water and have a drink bottle with you everywhere you go. Do you know why this might be?
Great bar graph. You aced it! Can I just say, you have really lovely hand writing. I really like the style in which you have written your title.
Keep up the amazing work.
Izzy
Kia ora Amelia,
ReplyDeleteWow - this is an awesome blog post that you have written! I am really impressed by the amount of detail that you put into each activity. I really like your drawing on your DLO for activity 2, it adds lots of detail to the activity. Mission Bay is a great place to go in the summer - I love going there! Have you swum in the fountain this summer?
Keep up the great blogging!
Talk soon,
Sophie :)
